Chops, Inc. News Release

Chops Announces 2006 Show and Next Camp, February 4/5, 2006

Minneapolis, MN, January 24, 2006 - Chops, Inc. will bring its unique blend of showmanship to the field in 2006 with a show entitled "I Never Kissed Winnie Cooper." The show promises to come out strong and take you on an emotional journey exploring how we always need our friends to help us through our lives. Look for songs from Joe Cocker, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Michael Bublé and Stevie Wonder.

At the first camp, the corps got right to work on the ballad, "Kissing a Fool," which is wonderfully arranged by Andy Yoswiak (Brass) and Jeremy Kunkel (Percussion). The guard worked on developing a foundation from which they can convey to the audience the emotional impact of this sweet ballad. The camp concluded with a show and tell where each section presented what they worked on and accomplished. Every member came away from the first camp with a feeling of accomplishment and a great start to our 2006 season.

Our next camp, beginning on February 4, 2006, will build on this momentum. The February camp will be at Morris Bye Elementary School in Coon Rapids, MN. For more information, visit our website at http://www.chopsinc.com. Camp begins at 11:30 a.m. sharp for returning members. A special dinner treat is planned for the February camp, but we are keeping it a surprise.

Chops is still looking for new members in all sections. However, our greatest need is in our horn line, specifically sopranos and baritones. No previous brass experience is required, though certainly welcome. If you have the desire to perform and play, we have the ability to teach you. We ask that new members report at 11:00 a.m. for a short orientation into the corps.

We will also be holding another Show and Tell at the end of our weekend (11:30 a.m. on Sunday). If you want to come out and cure those winter blues with a little drum corps, we would love to see you out there. And finally, mark your calendars for the annual Minnesota Drum Corps Showcase to be held on April 30, 2006. Final plans are being made as to location and times, but it will be a great opportunity to hear all of the local groups in early season performances.
