Chops, Inc. is looking for a Program Coordinator for the 2010 season!
Overview:
Primarily responsible for the overall artistic product of Chops, Inc. including the field show, parades, and concert performances while committed to the personal growth and performance quality of each individual member. Must organize and manage a staff of qualified instructors and be instrumental in the process of membership recruiting.
Responsibilities:
Parade Program for Hot Chops, Chopstix, and Top Chops
- Oversees the music selection, performance quality and entertainment value of the parade routines for Top Chops, Hot Chops, and Chopstix.
- Ensures qualified staff member is in place for each group and work with staff to create the end parade program product.
- Manage all rehearsals to ensure maximized use of time.
- Create a concert program that features each of the three groups individually, as well as a few options for combined performances.
- Work to increase the long-term demand from parade officials of Chops, Inc.
Field Show Program
- Hiring and managing of section caption heads and techs within the approved staff budget.
- Contracting of show design writers/music arrangers/drill designers/etc. adhering to the approved budget, agreed-upon deadlines, and resulting quality.
- Manage all rehearsal schedules to ensure maximized use of time to meet performance goals.
- Implement criticism, critique, and performance suggestions from DCA judging committees to maximize show potential.
- Communicate thoroughly prior to rehearsal all rehearsal goals and detailed rehearsal schedules.
Membership Recruiting
- Recruit new marching members through personal contacts, school presentations, music educator events throughout the state such as MMEA, marketing campaigns to schools and alumni (administered by the marketing manager), relationships with music educators throughout the state, and other methods available without exceeding the recruiting budget set by the Board of Directors.
- Make regular recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors on ways to maximize recruiting potential.
Member Instruction and Growth
- Demand a positive teaching environment for all staff.
- Lead by example.
- Institute instructional methods to maximize individual member performance quality as well as the overall ensemble.
- Implement leadership lessons throughout the season.
Requirements:
- Experience in forming and managing a staff of corps instructors to maximize the effort and potential of each corps member.
- Available to travel with the corps to away performances and rehearsals.
- Positive motivator to students and staff of all ages.
- Experienced in managing to process of producing an entertaining drum corps show from the initial idea stage to the final performance.
- Strong communications skills with all types of individuals from staff to parents of corps members.
- Able to work within a budget set by the Board of Directors.
- Accept direction from the Board of Directors and regularly report to the Board on the artistic program’s progress, process, and any needed outside resources.
- Adhere to and enforce the rules and expectations of the Chops Member Handbook.
